“I always advise you to beAuthentic, because when the goinggets tough, when the down timescome, what are you going to do?”
Serena Williams, Tennis Champion
Our obsession with celebrities and sports heroes has reached a pinnacle in today's society. Some are a "flash in the pan" achieving their 15 minutes of fame. And some transcend and reach high achievements. For Serena Williams, with her well-deserved "GOAT" moniker, is the greatest of all time. Not only for her on-court accomplishments but the barriers and challenges she faced throughout her career.
Washington Post deemed her "a transcendent icon on and off the tennis court, ... with sustained excellence and persistent authenticity." Whether it's using her voice to address body positivity, inclusion, being a mom, gender pay equality, or one of the many causes she champions. As she moves on to the next chapter of her career, we will watch her "authentic self" keep charging forward in awe.
