"Life is a gift, but it’s more than just that. Life is a challenge.”
Ole Kirk Christiansen, Lego Founder

LEGO has just become the biggest toy company in the world after facing numerous setup backs throughout the years. Its simple concept of the plastic brick is one of the greatest sources of imagination, inspiration, and impact on children and adults alike.Christiansen adopted the name LEGO in 1934. He formed the name from the Danish words “Leg Godt,” which means “play well.” In Latin, “lego” also means “I study” or “I put together.”

Here is what our community thinks.

"As they grow, they stay true to childlike curiosity in their parks, products and now television. They are all about imagination and being a blank canvas for whatever children (or grownups) need. "

"It’s consistency and progression over the years."

"It makes you creative. · It helps you relax. · It makes adults feel like a child again. · It gives you a sense of freedom."

Our authenticity-obsessed culture turns real people into entertainment, but it's just another layer of performance. I-D Magazine

Authenticity, Equality Shouldn’t Have To Be Sacrificed In Order To Belong

“Belongingness” is defined as an emotional need to be accepted as a member of a group, be it family, friends, a religion, co-workers, etc. It is believed much of what humans do is driven by this need. But if belonging comes at the expense of who you truly are, if it requires an effort of suppression to “fit in,” is it authentic? Keremeos Review

Showing up as an authentic female leader is a crucial contribution to an evolving workplace, and compared to only a few years ago, perhaps it's a little less risky inside most corporate cultures. Who Am I, How Can I Understand Myself & Live Authentically?

Why is our sense of identity important, does authenticity matter, and how can we better understand ourselves and make positive changes for the better? Happiful Magazine

This past week, the co-founder of Red Bull died and left an inevitable mark on creating an iconic brand, the way to market to the consumers, and an industry that emerged.

When I met Dietrich (in 1997), he said to me, in his deep bold and meaningul Austrian voice, "Poool, please create and lead the US events and support the underdogs, the non-conformists and provide niche scenes tools to help build their sports. Own the event, don't sponsor it...create it. Give athletes a platform to perform to their ultimate ability and we will support the best ideas without compromise. Use the brand functionally, not just hanging a banner and placing a logo or forcing the brand anywhere you can. Give athletes, media and attendees the best experience they have ever had. We must never talk about ourselves, rather let others do the talking. Build a team and culture of bright eyed people who are passionate about living a big life and enable them with the tools to do their job at a gold standard level". Here's the kicker for all you CEO's, CFO's and CMO's out there, please take note..."Do things a bank would never touch", basically meaning "fuck the short term thinking and immediate ROI".

Dietrich was all about long term brand building, relationship building, building credibility through authentic marketing rather than being seen as a checkbook to athletes and events and slapping the logo everywhere possible. No, he wasn't about that! He wasn't about building immediate shareholder value or appeasing the board (because he had no board or shareholders outside of the Thai family, who stayed out of our business for the most part in the US). He'd rather us speak to hundreds of people through our activities and shake hands and have a conversations rather than running an ad to reach thousands or millions at that time (early days)...let the content speak for itself. He believed in the relationships that are forever and he believed in his people.
