Building Authenticity: Lego’s Imagination Empire

"Life is a gift, but it’s more than just that. Life is a challenge.”

Ole Kirk Christiansen, Lego Founder

LEGO has just become the biggest toy company in the world after facing numerous setup backs throughout the years. Its simple concept of the plastic brick is one of the greatest sources of imagination, inspiration, and impact on children and adults alike.

Christiansen adopted the name LEGO in 1934. The name, derived from 'Leg Godt,' meaning 'play well' in Danish, reflects their commitment to genuine playfulness. In Latin, 'lego' translates to 'I study' or 'I put together,' underlining the constructive exploration at the heart of their philosophy.

The LEGO community praises the brand's childlike curiosity, evident in its parks, products, and television ventures. They serve as an imaginative canvas for children and adults, fostering creativity and evoking a sense of freedom while remaining consistent in their values over the years.

What our community thinks;

“It makes you creative. It makes adults feel like a child again, and gives you a sense of freedom.”

“As they grow, they stay true to childlike curiousity in their parks, products and now television. They are all about imagination and being a blank canvas for whatever children (or grownups) need.”

“The idea that building things would inspire problem solving & spatial skills while having fun.”
